Pygmalion, a vegetation god in ancient Greek mythology, is also the name of the Greek sculptor who fell in love with his statue. The mythical character of Pygmalion has inspired many musicians and writers, notably George Bernard Shaw, and "pygmalionism" is a well-known psychological concept. |
