9040 Flacourtia           Discovered 1991 Jan. 18 by E. W. Elst at Haute Provence.
Named for Flacourtiaceae, the Indian plum family, with almost 90 genera and 900 species. Flacourtia indica (governor's plum) is one of the species, and the southeast Asian genus Hydnocarpus produces an oil that is used for treating some skin diseases.
