8850 Bignonia           Discovered 1990 Nov. 15 by E. W. Elst at the European Southern Observatory.
\eject Named for Bignoniaceae, the catalpa family, with about 100 genera and 700 species with tubular flowers. Among them are Bignonia capreolata (trumpet flower) and Crescentia cujete (calabash).
