Orville Brettman (b. 1947) was exposed to astronomy at the age of 14. He joined the Association of Lunar & Planetary Observers and was a founding member of the Elgin Astronomical Society (Illinois). He became involved with the Astronomical League and was President of the League from 1980-1982.
