6712 Hornstein           Discovered 1990 Feb. 23 by A. Mrkos at Klet.
Karl Hornstein (1824-1882), the eighth director of the Klementinum observatory in Prague, studied the orbits of minor planets, including the irregularities in their distribution that were later called the Kirkwood gaps. The name was suggested by J. Ticha and M. Šolc.
