Peter M. Ting (b. 1948), American anesthesiologist, has had a lifelong interest in many aspects of astronomy and bought his first telescope in his youth. He has a wide-ranging interest in the history of astronomy and works on special problems of minor-planet nomenclature. Name proposed by L. D. Schmadel.
