35976 Yorktown           Discovered 1999 June 25 by the Lowell Observatory Near-Earth cObject Search at the Anderson Mesa Station.
Yorktown, a town in Virginia on the York River leading into the Chesapeake Bay, was the site of a Sept.-Oct. 1781 siege of the British army by American and French troops, with support by the French navy. The outcome proved conclusive to the American War of Independence. The name was suggested by R. P. Binzel.
