Pavol "Palo" Rapavý (b. 1955), director of the public observatory in Rimavská Sobota since 1981, is the main coordinator of visual meteor observations in Slovakia. As an indefatigable observer of the sun, meteors and stellar occultations, he is the life and soul of amateur astronomy in Slovakia.
