26950 Legendre           Discovered 1997 May 11 by P. G. Comba at Prescott.
Adrien-Marie Legendre (1752-1833) was a French mathematician who published important treatises on elliptic integrals, for which he provided a classification, and on number theory, where he first stated the law of quadratic reciprocity and gave a formula for the distribution of prime numbers.
