Günther Kurtze (1921-1986) was a physicist and professor of acoustics at TH Karlsruhe, where he also used piezoelectric materials generating shock waves for medical therapy. In 1970, he established the Deutsche Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Akustik, DAGA.
