24748 Nernst           Discovered 1992 Sept. 26 by F. Borngen and L. D. Schmadel at Tautenburg.
German Walther Hermann Nernst (1864-1941) is one of the founders of physical chemistry. He discovered the thermomagnetic and galvanomagnetic effects, developed a theory of electrical nerve stimulation and specified the third law of thermodynamics. He received the 1920 Nobel Prize for chemistry.
