Martin Kukučín (Matej Bencúr, 1860-1928) was a Slovak writer and the first important realistic novelist in Slovak literature. He spent part of his life in Chile and Argentina, as well as in Croatia (on the island of Brač), where he died. Kukučín was also a teacher and doctor. |
