8836 Aquifolium           Discovered 1989 Sept. 26 by E. W. Elst at the European Southern Observatory.
Named for Aquifoliaceae, the holly family, with 700 evergreens and deciduous species. Ilex aquifolium (English holly) belongs to this family, as does Ilex paraguariensis (Yerba maté), which makes a tasteful tea.
