19226 Peiresc           Discovered 1993 Sept. 15 by E. W. Elst at the European Southern Observatory.
Nicolas-Claude Fabri de Peiresc (1580-1637) was a French humanist and philosopher with a great interest in astronomy. In 1610 he discovered the Orion Nebula and was one of the first to draw a map of the moon. He observed the satellites of Jupiter and has been honored with the lunar crater Peirescus.
