18731 Vil'bakirov           Discovered 1998 May 23 by the Lowell Observatory Near-Earth Object Search at the Anderson Mesa Station.
Vil' S. Bakirov (b. 1946) is a Ukrainian sociologist, president of the Sociological Association and corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Since 1998 he has served as rector of Kharkiv V. N. Karazin National University, where he has promoted the development of astronomy and other sciences.
