17653 Bochner           Discovered 1996 Nov. 10 by P. G. Comba at Prescott.
Salomon Bochner (1899-1982) was a Polish-American mathematician who spent most of his working life at Princeton, where he had many students who later became distinguished mathematicians. One of the many areas where he did original research is the theory of functions of many complex variables.
