17489 Trenker           Discovered 1991 Oct. 2 by F. Borngen and L. D. Schmadel at Tautenburg.
Luis Trenker (1892-1990), initially a herdsman, mountain guide and ski instructor in his South Tyrolese alpine homeland, later had great success as a scriptwriter, film director, screen actor and author. During 1928-1940 he lived in Berlin. His novels, which described and praised his native country, later became very popular.
