17460 Mang           Discovered 1990 Oct. 10 by L. D. Schmadel and F. Börngen at Tautenburg.
Herbert Mang (b. 1942) is professor of material sciences at the Vienna University of Technology. He is a well-known expert in computational mechanics and a friend of astronomy. Mang currently serves as president of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna. The name was suggested by the first discoverer.
