17233 Stanshapiro           Discovered 2000 Feb. 29 by the Lincoln Laboratory Near-Earth Asteroid Research Team at Socorro.
Named in honor of Stan Shapiro for mentoring a finalist in the 2002 Intel Science Talent Search, a science competition for high school seniors. Shapiro is a teacher at the Midwood High School at Brooklyn College, Brooklyn, New York.
