17076 Betti           Discovered 1999 Apr. 18 by P. G. Comba at Prescott.
Enrico Betti (1823-1892) taught at the University of Pisa and published on various topics in algebra and analysis. His research on the analysis situs (topology) of hyperspaces led to the definition of the "Betti numbers", which characterize the connectivity of a manifold.
