16906 Giovannisilva           Discovered 1998 Feb. 18 at Osservatorio San Vittore.
Italian astronomer Giovanni Silva (1882-1957) was an assistant at the International Latitude Station at Carloforte and later director of the Padua Observatory until 1952. He contributed to classical astronomy, celestial mechanics, geodesy, astrophysics and the calculus of probability.
