Sandhills author Mari Sandoz (1896-1966) wrote 21 books and stories about life on the Great Plains. Her first book, Old Jules, was published in 1935 after it won the Atlantic Nonfiction Prize. She also wrote Crazy Horse, a biography of the Sioux Chief, and Cheyenne Autumn, about Native Americans leaving the reservation. |
