15461 Johnbird           Discovered 1998 Dec. 27 by the Lowell Observatory Near-Earth Object Search at the Anderson Mesa Station.
John M. Bird (b. 1931) is a professor of geology at Cornell University. He is a pioneer in the geological interpretation of plate-tectonic motions and of deep-earth mineralogy. The name was suggested by P. C. Thomas.
