Alan Alda (b. 1936) is an American actor, director, screenwriter and author. Best known as Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce in the TV series M \ast A \ast S \ast H, Alda has won numerous awards for his work including 6 Emmys and 6 Golden Globes. Alda hosted the acclaimed PBS series Scientific American Frontiers from 1993 to 2005.
