Jean Louis Steinberg (b. 1922) is a co-founder of the Nançay Radio Observatory and Astronomy and Astrophysics. He was among the first in France to launch space-astronomy missions using sounding rockets and satellites to study the physics of ionospheric plasma and the terrestrial magnetosphere.
