11739 Baton Rouge           Discovered 1998 Sept. 25 by W. R. Cooney, Jr., and M. Collier at Baton Rouge.
Baton Rouge, the Louisiana state capital, is located on the banks of the Mississippi river and derives its name, French for "red stick", from an Indian marker at the site seen by a French expedition in 1699. The city is home to the Highland Road Park Observatory, where this minor planet was discovered.
