11709 Eudoxos           Discovered 1998 Apr. 27 by P. G. Comba at Prescott.
Eudoxos of Knidos (c. 408-355 B.C.) was the prime mover behind two major developments in Greek mathematical thought: the theory of proportions that overcame the crisis caused by the discovery of irrational numbers, and the method of exhaustion for the calculation of areas and volumes.
