The Oomine mountain chain, located in the middle of the Kii peninsula, is in the National Park of Yoshino-Kumano and one of the 100 celebrated mountains in Japan. It is famous as an ancient religious site, and many ascetics have visited it. This area was registered as a UNESCO world heritage site in 2004. |
