10839 Hufeland           Discovered 1994 Apr. 3 by F. Borngen at Tautenburg.
The German physician Christoph Wilhelm Hufeland (1762-1836) was professor of medicine in Jena and Berlin. He attended Schiller and Goethe, tried to reconcile the methods of naturopathy with scientific findings and introduced smallpox vaccination. Die Kunst, das menschliche Leben zu verlängern is his chief work.
