100231 Monceau           Discovered 1994 Aug. 12 by E. W. Elst at the European Southern Observatory.
Henri-Louis Duhamel du Monceau (1700-1782), a French physician, naval engineer and botanist, served three times as president of the French Academy of Sciences. Although chiefly occupying himself with experiments on plant physiology, his most famous written work was the Eléments d´architecture naval 1752--1758.
