To restrict your search to only small-bodies or only major-bodies, use the pulldown menu to the right of the Search button above to select the desired filter.
Examples:
mars
- search for bodies containing “mars” (case-insensitive).
If the search filter is set for all available bodies, you would get a list similar to the
following:

(the planet Mars)MB: Mars Barycenter
(the dynamical point corresponing to the Mars-system barycenter)eros
- search for bodies containing “eros”.
This should result in a unique match of the small-body 433 Eros.

- search for bodies with either a JPL ID of “10” or a small-body IAU-number of “10”.
The resulting list would look similar to the following:
MB: Sun [Sol]
SB: 10 Hygiea
1998 SF36
or 1998sf36
- search for a small-body with designation “1998 SF36”
(case-sensitive).
This should result in a unique match of the small-body
