43843 Cleynaerts | Discovered 1993 July 12 by E. W. Elst at the European Southern Observatory. |
Nicolas Cleynaerts (Clenardus, 1495-1542) was a Flemish humanist who promoted tolerance between the nations and a grammarian who wrote manuals to study Greek and Hebrew. Desiring to bring Islam and Christianity closer together, he got into conflict with the Spanish and Portuguese authorities. |
