27736 Ekaterinburg           Discovered 1990 Sept. 22 by E. W. Elst at the European Southern Observatory.
Ekaterinburg, on the river Iset, is a city on the eastern side of the Urals. Founded in 1723 by Peter the Great, it became a center of mining and smelting. It is now a leading center of education and science.
