27514 Markov           Discovered 2000 Apr. 26 by P. G. Comba at Prescott.
Andrei Andreevich Markov (1856-1922), a professor at St. Petersburg University, introduced the study of "Markov processes" in probability theory. These are discrete-time systems where the state at a given instant depends only on the state at the immediately preceding instant, and not on other past history.
