26761 Stromboli           Discovered 1960 Sept. 24 by C. J. van Houten and I. van Houten-Groeneveld on Palomar Schmidt plates taken by T. Gehrels.
Stromboli is a volcanic island off northern Sicily, in the Mediterranean Sea. In antiquity the volcano was called "the lighthouse of Mediterrania". The most recent eruptions were in 1951 and 2000.
