24974 Macúch           Discovered 1998 Apr. 21 by P. Kolény and L. Kornoš at Modra.
Rudolf Macúch (1919-1993) was a Slovak orientalist and humanist. He studied evangelical theology at the Comenius University in Bratislava. For many years he lived in Iran, where he studied oriental languages. From 1963 to 1988 he held the chair of Semitic and Arabic studies at the Freie Universität in Berlin.
