Johann Christian Senckenberg (1707-1772) was a medical practitioner in his native city of Frankfurt am Main. He donated his estate as a foundation for science and medicine. Amongst others, the Senckenberg Museum, a hospital and the Physikalischer Verein at Frankfurt am Main are based on his foundation.
