6579 Benedix           Discovered 1981 Mar. 2 by S. J. Bus at Siding Spring in the course of the U.K. Schmidt-Caltech Asteroid Survey.
Gretchen K. Benedix (b. 1968) is curator of meteorites at the Natural History Museum in London. Her work on primitive achondrites has provided new insights into the processes of melting and impacts on minor planets.
