17045 Markert           Discovered 1999 Mar. 22 by D. J. Tholen on images taken by J. Bauer at Mauna Kea.
Thomas H. Markert (1948-1996) made some of the first x-ray observations of binary star systems, supernova remnants, suspected black holes and local group galaxies. He helped develop much of the instrumentation used on major x-ray observatories, including Einstein's FPCS and Chandra's HETG spectrometers.
