15969 Charlesgreen           Discovered 1998 Mar. 1 by E. W. Elst at the European Southern Observatory.
Charles Green (1735-1771) was the official astronomer on Cook's expedition aboard the Endeavour to Tahiti to observe the 1769 transit of Venus. After the successful observation of the event, the expedition left Tahiti and sailed for Australia and Jakarta. In Batavia Green caught malaria and was buried at sea.
