Marianne Ute Esser (b. 1943) has been a member of the scientific staff of the Astronomisches Rechen-Institut in Heidelberg for more than 30 years. As an editor of Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts she contributed to the worldwide reputation of this bibliography.
