15263 Erwingroten           Discovered 1990 Oct. 13 by L. D. Schmadel and F. Börngen at Tautenburg.
Erwin Groten (b. 1935) is a pioneer in modern geodesy. For three decades until his retirement in 2003 he served as director of the Institute of Physical Geodesy at the Technical University in Darmstadt. He contributed significantly to the definition of fundamental astronomical and geodetic reference frames.
