12473 Levi-Civita           Discovered 1997 Feb. 10 by P. G. Comba at Prescott.
Tullio Levi-Civita (1873-1941) developed and extended the tensor calculus, originally formulated by Ricci, which plays a central role in the theory of general relativity and in differential geometry. In 1938 Levi-Civita was removed from his professorship at the University of Rome because of his being Jewish.
