Annette Freiin von Droste-Hülshoff (1797-1848) was one of the most prominent German poets of her time. Her poems are frequently rooted in the landscape of her Westphalian home. Her prose writing in part anticipates civic realism in Germany. Her later work culminated in the poems Mondesaufgang and Durchwachte Nacht. |
