10253 Westerwald           Discovered 1973 Sept. 29 by C. J. van Houten and I. van Houten-Groeneveld on Palomar Schmidt plates taken by T. Gehrels.
North of the Lahn river lies the Westerwald, a low mountain range with some volcanoes, blending into the "Siebengebirge", a range of seven extinct volcanic mountains.
