Lewis Allan (Lou) Reed (1942-2013) was an American musician, singer and songwriter. After his time with the Velvet Underground in the 1960s, he started a solo career in 1972. Reed's characteristic dry voice, his poetic lyrics and variable style were reflected in more than 20 studio albums.
