11760 Auwers           Discovered 1960 Sept. 24 by C. J. van Houten and I. van Houten-Groeneveld on Palomar Schmidt plates taken by T. Gehrels.
Arthur Auwers (1838-1915), Potsdam Observatory director from 1881, established the first reference catalogue of fundamental star positions and observed the 1874 and 1882 transits of Venus to measure the solar parallax.
