API VERSION: 1.2 API SOURCE: NASA/JPL Horizons API ******************************************************************************* Revised: Sep 05, 2023 EQUULEUS Spacecraft / (Moon) -101 https://www.space.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp/equuleus/en/ OVERVIEW: EQUULEUS "(EQUilibriUm Lunar-Earth point 6U Spacecraft)". This JAXA CubeSat launched from Cape Canaveral on the SLS with Artemis I on November 16, 2022 at 06:47 UTC. It was then released to begin a lunar flyby sequence over a period of 1 to 3 months, followed by maneuvers exploiting Earth-Sun-Moon dynamics over 5 months. This will bring it to a libration orbit around the Earth-Moon L2 Lagrange point using minimal propellant. Observations will be made from this position for about 1 month before the mission ends. OBJECTIVES: * Observe the Earth's plasmasphere in the ultraviolet band * Characterize the dust environment in cislunar space * Record lunar impact flashes SPACECRAFT: Dimensions: 6U cubesat (10 x 20 x 30 cm) Mass : 11.5 kg Power : 50 W @ 1 AU, from two deployable solar arrays and batteries Propulsion and attitude control: * Warm gas propulsion with water as the propellant ("steam-powered"?) * 8 water thrusters, with a planned thrust of 3.3 mN and Isp of 70 seconds * Total mass of water propelled is 1.22 kg, providing total delta-v of 77 m/s Communications: X-band transponder with one medium-gain & one large-gain antenna INSTRUMENTS: PHOENIX .... extreme ultraviolet imager; CLOTH ...... dust detector DELPHINUS .. camera designed to detect impact flashes. TRAJECTORY: Approximately weekly tracking data tag-up through Aug 24. Predicts thereafter.
