Oct 23 is the last scheduled contact.\n\n       A 50-year prediction was provided by the flight project (ESA).\n\n BACKGROUND:\n  The European Space Agency's Planck mission is designed to image the \n  anisotropies of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) Radiation Field by \n  performing two complete sky surveys with the highest sensitivity and \n  angular resolution to-date. Planck will rotate once per minute, scanning\n  such that the complete sky will have been covered twice after 15 months. \n \n  Planck launched 2009-May-14 together with the Herschel satellite.  After \n  launch, Planck and Herschel separated and will be placed in different \n  orbits around the second Lagrangian point of the Earth-Moon-Sun System (L2).\n\n OBJECTIVES: \n  * Mapping of Cosmic Microwave Background anisotropies\n  * Determination of Hubble constant\n  * Testing inflationary models of the early universe\n  * Measuring amplitude of structures in Cosmic Microwave Background\n \n SPACECRAFT:\n  Launch (Ariane-5)= 2009-May-14\n  Mission end      = (1.5 year nominal lifetime after launch)\n  Telescope mirror = 1.5 meters\n  Dimensions       = 3.8m high x 4.5m wide\n  Launch Mass      =  1800 kg \n\n INSTRUMENTS:\n  * LFI   - Low Frequency Instrument (30-70 GHz)\n  * HFI   - High Frequency Instrument (100-857 GHz)\n\n ORBIT:\n  Herschel and Planck will be launched together, then separate while being \n  injected into transfer orbits. The spacecraft will proceed independently \n  to their operational orbits. About 100 days after launch, Planck will \n  arrive in an orbit around Earth-Sun L2.\n\n SPACECRAFT TRAJECTORY (from ESA/IPAC 2013-Oct-25):\n  Trajectory name (HSC/ESA)       Start        Stop\n  ----------------------------  -----------  -----------\n  P20131024_0001                2009-May-14  2050-Jan-01\n*******************************************************************************\n"}
