8297 Gérardfaure           Discovered 1993 Aug. 18 by E. W. Elst at Caussols.
Gérard Faure is a French amateur astronomer and member of the "Millennium Club". He performs visual estimates of minor planets with magnitude discrepancies, pushing the limiting magnitude with his C8 telescope as far as visual magnitude 16.0 (Magnitude Alert Program). In 1996 he saw his 1000th minor planet visually.
